The Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) is a youth initiative organized under YOUNGO, the official youth constituency of the UNFCCC. Held annually across the world — including several countries in the Middle East and the Arab region — it brings young people together to shape environmental recommendations ahead of the global Conference of the Parties (COP), feeding their voices directly into international climate negotiations. What Green Gate Offers As an official YOUNGO collaborator, Green Gate supports youth and organizations across the region in engaging with LCOY at every stage. We guide young people through the process of getting involved — from understanding how LCOY works to preparing to contribute meaningfully once they're in the room — and we support organizations and national coordinators looking to host or organize an LCOY in their own country, drawing on our own experience leading LCOY Tunisia 2024. Whether you're a young person ready to raise your voice or an organization ready to build a platform for youth in your community, Green Gate is here to help you navigate the path to COP.
